| Desired Profile | Detailed Description : The MySQL Consulting team engages in short consulting engagements, frequently about a week in length, to help customers design their database architecture for a new project, solve performance problems on an existing project, or migrate from a competing database! product to MySQL. Th! e team also helps customers implement highly available and highly scalable solutions. The team works with customers of all sizes, from startup to enterprise account, and focuses on Architecture & Design, Performance Tuning, High Availability, and Database Migrations. The MySQL Senior Principal Consultant has a strong background with MySQL and has experience working with MySQL in a production environment. The Consultant has strong communication skills and can effectively communicate complex technical topics to business customers, who may have varying degrees of technical depth. The Consultant typically has expertise in one or more of the following areas: performance ! tuning, high availability, schema design, database architecture, and database administration. The Consultant shares best practices with teammates and may become a team lead for a particular technical topic of interest. This position is for remote customer work from the Oracle Noida office; no travel to customer sites is required. Job Requirements : 4 or more years of experience relevant to this position. Undergraduate degree required; Masters degree preferred. MySQL technical certifications within 6 months of hire. Additional Details Responsibilities include: • Responsibility for database design, administration, tuning and optimization, migration from other database vendors to MySQL, development and integration in support of customer engagements. • Working closely with clients and MySQL project managers and team to clearly define scope of work and provide accurate schedule estimates. • Acting as technical guide and mentor to other team members. • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, best practices and methodology. • Translating customer specifications into quality deliverables. Minimum Qualifications: • 5 or more years MySQL production database administration experience or database development experience working with schema design, database programming, stored procedures and database performance tuning, especially for complex queries. • Technical expertise in MySQL. • Experienced with Linux OS. • Strong problem solving skills with an eye for the big picture and capable of delving into details when required. • Ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and have a flexible positive attitude. • Must be an experienced, motivated, self-starter who is willing to work in an entrepreneurial environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers remotely, using a combination of telephone, e-mail, and/or instant message, depending on the customer's preferences. • Ability to work with customers in multiple time zones; may need to work a United States time zone one week and a European time zone the following week. Desirable Qualifications: • Written and/or spoken fluency in multiple languages. Highly desired, in addition to English, are German, French, and Japanese. • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server. • Experience with Windows Server (Linux experience required). • MySQL DBA, MySQL Developer and MySQL Cluster Certifications • Experience with other DBMS including Oracle RAC, Sybase, Informix, PostgreSQL, Times Ten is a plus. • Experience in writi! ! ng stored procedures, triggers and functions in multiple development environments (Linux , Windows, Solaris, UNIX) • Programming language skills: C/C++, Java, PHP, Perl, Python • Experience with connectors: JDBC and ODBC • Experience with application and web servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Apache Tomcat. • Experience with setting up various replication and clu! stering schemes. • Experience with data modeling. • Project management skills. • Development experience under Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX. Qualification : Any Degree / B.Tech./B.E./M.Tech./M.E/ MCA / MSc / MBA Experience : ranging from 4 to 12 years. |
