Network Engineer Sr.
Job Description
Plan, design, implement and support Qualcomm's Global Data Center Network infrastructure. Provide support to Qualcomm's Datacenters comprised of Cisco Nexus and Catalyst routers and switches, Cisco UCS, and Citrix NetScalers. Evaluate and implement new technologies. Perform upgrades, new installations, enhancements and configuration changes as needed. Monitor daily operations and troubleshoot problems. Operate, monitor, maintain and support data center infrastructure equipment. Adhere to corporate change management policies and practices. Work on cross department and function projects. Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation. Help other IT teams like server, storage, AFS/NFS in their day to day operations. Be a great team player and be capable of managing vendor relationships. On-call responsibilities. Provide creativity and technical leadership.
Desired Profile
Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a large heterogeneous environment. In-depth and hands on experience with routers, switches, load balancers, CSS/GSS, etc. Sound Understanding and experience with protocols/technologies such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, QOS, WAN optimization, Riverbed, and Cisco WAAS. Experience with network services like DNS, DHCP, Radius, TACACS, SNMP, LDAP, SMTP and NFS. Working knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, etc. Experience working in IT operations environment or data systems (servers and storage) implementation and/or networking system implementation. Technical proficiency is required in maintaining and operating network equipment, data products, and associated services and applications. Experience installing and configuring Cisco IOS or NXOS network equipment required. Experience with syslog, swatch and application monitoring. Have working experience in troubleshooting issues with Vendors. Working experience with Sun H/W, Solaris OS, UNIX, Linux and Windows OS. Good team player, capable of leading projects. Great verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong customer service orientation and excellent documentation skills.
