Network Engineer


Job Description
The Network Engineer is responsible for engineering the organization's Network & Telephony environment. You need to have MPLS Network experience and at least 3 years exp with Avaya telephone systems, and will be developing an understanding of the present state and network/telephony interoperability as we migrate in various phases from non-standard to standard operating environment. The successful candidate will have Cisco networking experience, and in-depth expertise in VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, TFTP and related Protocols) and their performance from the edge thru the core of the network. You need to have a strong working knowledge of data communications and Internet knowledge including: TCP/UDP/IP, routing, tunneling, PPP, ATM, and mobile IP. Additionally, you need to be very organized, a team-player, and strong communicator. This position is a key contributor to the overall design, planning and implementation of network & telephony installations throughout the client's enterprise. This is a 6-8 month contract opportunity in downtown Atlanta.
Responsibilities:
Engineers voice systems; coordinates telecommunication maintenance functions to accommodate system users and minimize downtime for all sites across the enterprise.
Ensures compliance with all voice procedures.
Resolves problems as referred by the Network & Telephony Operations Staff (Level 3 support).
Develop and maintains networking & telecom documentation.
Assist the network & telecommunications group in support of ongoing network & telecom improvement projects.
Coordinates with and assists vendors with software/hardware testing and installations.
Provide configuration changes and programming of all Genesys and ShoreTel call center components.
Provide periodic progress report to communicate project status
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum 3 years related experience, increasing responsible voice communications administration experience.
Solid Cisco networking experience
Must have PBX consolidation experience
MPLS Network experience
Knowledge and experience with the various operating systems and systems performance monitors.
Extensive Cisco experience and minimum of 3 years' experience with Avaya Telephone Systems and VoIP.
Familiarity with multiple phone Switches, phone mail, key systems, and associated software.
Familiarity of call center environments, both inbound and outbound supporting remote locations.
Knowledge of Genesys GVP, IRD, CME, Studio, SCI, OCM and reporting.
In-depth expertise in VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, TFTP and related Protocols) and their performance from the edge thru the core of the network.
Strong working knowledge of current VoIP technologies and their implementations.
Working knowledge of access network issues that impact VoIP performance as well as their measurement and analysis.
Must know access methods including cable modems, DSL, satellite, and wireless. Must be proficient with Windows, especially its communications and networking capabilities
Excellent problem solving, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Ability to work under minimal supervision. Ability to interact with staff at all levels.
