Education: A Bachelor's Degree - Computer Science, technical or engineering degree preferred (relevant experience will be considered if not graduate)
Required Skills
o 4-7 years of relevant support experience
o Strong understanding and experience in Windows Server Technology
o Experience in implementing and supporting Windows Server clusters
o Experience in implementing and maintaining Windows AD
o HP-C7000 Chassis, Flex, VCEM, SIM, technologies
o VMware 3.5 and 4 (ESX servers, Virtual Center, HA, DRS, FT clusters, VCB, VDSwitch, P2V, V2V, VCB, VM provisioning experience, automation)
o TCP/IP networking troubleshooting skills
o Storage exposure and experience
o Backup experience (TSM/Netback up desired)
o Hardware implementation, configuration, trouble shooting experience - preferably HP/IBM/DELL chassis systems
o Troubleshooting, problem identification and fixing
o Fundamental Networking, VLAN and related
o System/Service Performance Analysis and Tuning/Optimization
o Methodical and logical fault finding
o Experience in software provisioning
o Be open to learning appropriate new technology and applying pro-actively
o Willingness and open to work on issues and find the root cause.
Desired Skills
o ITIL (ITILv2/3 Foundation)

The Technology Operations organization within TR is a centralized unit providing shared software and services to TR business units across the globe.
The 'AUSG Escalation Support - Platforms' team is a newly formed team in Operations as part of the AUSG/DCMS organization. This group is responsible for the 2nd Level/expert support of VI (VmWare), Windows, UNIX and other platforms.
The supported systems are primarily in Production environments with many running Mission Critical applications and some in non-production environments.
Essential day-to-day responsibilities
o Provide day to day technical support for the Windows Server environments and applications.
o Implement and support Windows clustering and applications in the clusters.
o Implement and support Windows Active Directory.
o Provide technical support for the VMware virtual infrastructure.
o Participate in the VMware implementation projects as and when requirement arises.
o Provide technical expertise to projects implementing system upgrades ensuring Operations best practices are followed Installing, customizing, deployment of Windows and VMware systems.
o Taking full responsibility for stable operation of all systems under management.
o Be actively involved in capacity management and system performance monitoring/tuning.
o Plan and implement Business As Usual upgrades and patching schedules following business critical processes.
o Work on system/service performance issues, find root cause and solution.
o Provide root cause analysis for existing problems affecting Production and Pre-production environments including vendor escalation where necessary.
o Proactive in finding root cause irrespective of the source (be it UNIX, Windows, Network, applications) by working with peers.
o Liaison with site operations/remote smart hands, vendors, engineering, development, applications support, end user services/project managers.
o Perform software and systems provisioning using TR and third party tools to production and pre-production environments.
o Create/implement/trouble shooting internal tools using required scripting language.
o Be open to learning appropriate new technology and applying pro-actively.
