Hardware Design Engineers Colchester CO4 9WN, UK

Hardware Design Engineers
Further expansion of the product range means that the company requires additional Hardware Design Engineers. There are also opportunities for team leader roles.

The Job:
Our engineers have many responsibilities, and in particular they are involved in all the following:
  • Design and development of single board computer products from definition through to introduction to manufacturing
  • Production technical support
  • Project leading and design reviewing
  • Maintaining awareness of new technologies
  • Pre and post-sales backup to our technical support team
The more senior role will involve additional team management responsibilities, both at the technical level and also in terms of personnel management.
Working in a small company environment means that the majority of each design is completed by an individual engineer, who quickly becomes involved with all aspects of the product design and development. Short design timescales are an important part of our development strategy, which also results in our engineers being involved in many different product designs quite quickly.

Qualifications:
Candidates should be engineering graduates, able to demonstrate practical post graduate experience of digital hardware design, and be familiar with some or all of the following:
  • 32/64 bit microprocessors, preferably Intel 80x86 architecture
  • High performance communications peripheral devices, e.g. Gigabit Ethernet or 10 Gigabit Ethernet
  • Complex programmable logic devices
  • High performance bus architectures e.g. PCI-Express, RapidIO, CompactPCI or VME
  • High speed digital logic (400MHz and faster)
  • Advanced memory technologies, e.g. DDR or DDR III SDRAM
The ability to communicate effectively with others within the company at an engineering level is an important additional attribute.

Benefits:
Very competitive salary package with relocation allowance where appropriate. Company-supported private pension scheme. Non-contributory private medical and health insurance schemes.
