Job Description
Watson Software Support Engineer 6 + Yrs Exp This is an exciting opportunity working with the newest IBM technology. You will be engaged in helping to bring a truly "Smarter Planet" technology to market for our customers including industries like Health Care, Financial Services and more. The Watson Managed Services team in IBM Software Group (SWG), Watson Solutions Division, deploys, administers and trouble- shoots "Watson as a Service" solutions for our commercial customers. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, delivering and supporting expertly engineered IT services and products that meet worldwide clients' needs. The team handles multiple high profile solutions and production operations. Deployments tailored to the customer, and are hosted in IBM data centers, on customer premise, and are a mix of appliance style deployments and traditional enterprise deployments. The team is establishing repeatable fast- path go to market solutions, and is involved with factory style building of deployments and include technologies like Pure Systems for deployment in IBM data centers or are built and run on- premise at customer sites. Watson solutions involve complex and challenging problem determination across a wide array of parallel cooperating Linux operating systems with interfaces to multiple IBM Big Data and analytic products. As one of a team of engineers you will setup, administer and troubleshoot IBM's Watson Managed Service Solutions and Operations. Candidates for this role must be able to execute a broad blend of analysis, performance, reporting, administration, customer support, software development and test skills. Watson Support Engineers will field customer support questions about Watson deployment(s) by doing direct hands on problem determination. Ability to evaluate, troubleshoot, and innovate for rapidly developing environments are critical. Prior demonstrated skill with one or more of the following: data center operations, system x and p support, security management, Level 2 / Level 3 support, server management, patch management, storage and network management. Skills needed in one or more of the following: Linux on Power, AIX, Unix, DataPower, Eclipse, DB2, Websphere 8.5, GPFS, xCAT, ITIM, TPM, and Cloud. Experience with support tooling like Tivoli, SCCD, ITIM, TSM, GIAMA, QRADAR, etc., as well as applications like Cognos, SPSS, ICA, BPM, VMWARE, server virtualization technologies, and Pure Systems are a plus. Prior experience with HIPAA and FFIEC compliance recommended.
